The Honorary Consul’s essential mission is to protect all French nationals and their interests inside their district, and the duty to report to the French consular authorities on any events that might be of interest for those authorities.
By being assigned specific powers, the Honorary Consul can issue or facilitate obtaining administrative paperwork, among other tasks.
The Honorary Consul is nominated by the Chief of the Consular Post who they assist, advise and represent, after being approved by both the authorities of the Country they represent and the authorities of the Country they serve in.
A Consular Agency is a delegated branch of a Consulate General, in a city of the consular district different from the city where the Consulate General is located. A Consular Agency is managed by a Honorary Consul, who can be either a citizen of the represented country or a citizen of the country of residency.
Please note: the Honorary Consuls are people of good will who volunteer to help their fellow citizens and the French authorities on the fringe of their professional activity.
Therefore, it is better to avoid calling them at night on cases that do not require immediate attention.
